GUIDE FOR USING AN ELECTRIC CAR
We are thrilled that you chose to rent an electric car from us! This short guide will provide you with all the necessary information about charging the car and recommended charging networks. With these instructions, you can get started easily and effortlessly.
1. Charging Methods
Fast Charging (CCS 22kW-250kW): The quickest way to charge the car, usually takes 30-60 minutes. Fast charging stations can be found at gas stations and shopping centers, for example. To use CCS fast charging, you need to open the “cap” next to the car’s plug to connect this slightly different cable to the car.
Home Charging: A slow but convenient way to charge the car in your own yard or parking garage. You will need the charging cable provided with the car and a regular power outlet (230V) or a charging station.
Public Charging: Many cities and businesses offer public charging stations that can fully charge the car in a few hours (11–22kW).
2. Recommended Charging Networks
When booking a car, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the following charging networks to find the most suitable charging point for your trip. Charging at public charging stations often requires the service provider’s app and registration.
K-Lataus: The K-Group charging network. Charging points are located at several Citymarkets, K-stores, and Neste gas stations. The charging devices can be used easily with the K-Lataus app or RFID tags available in selected cars.
Virta Global: A comprehensive charging network that covers all of Finland. The Virta mobile app helps you find the nearest charging stations. Charging and payment are handled through the Virta app.
ABC Mobile: The S-Group charging network. Charging points are located at several Prisma stores, S-stores, and ABC gas stations. The charging devices can be easily used with the ABC Mobile app.
Lidl: Lidl’s own charging network. Charging points are located at Lidl stores. The charging devices can be easily used with the Lidl Plus app.
3. Tips for Charging
- Don’t worry about charging: You can’t connect the wrong type of cable to the car. Our electric cars only accept Type 2 and CCS cables. Other cables or charging cords will not fit into the car’s socket.
- Plan ahead: Make sure you have enough time to charge the car during your journey. Fast charging is quick, but you might have to wait in line sometimes.
- Charge at night: If possible, charge the car at night when electricity is often cheaper and charging stations are less crowded.
- Charge just enough: Only charge as much as you need to reach the next charging station. This saves time and energy.
- Drive economically: Driving style affects the range of an electric car. Economical driving can significantly extend the range. Avoid sudden accelerations and braking, and take advantage of the car’s energy recovery system.
- Adjust climate control wisely: The heating and air conditioning systems of an electric car consume battery power. Use them wisely to maximize battery life.
- Charge during breaks: Plan your trip so you can charge the car during breaks, such as when dining or shopping. This makes charging convenient and seamless.
We hope these instructions help you get the most out of your electric car rental experience! Enjoy driving and remember that you are using an environmentally friendly car of the future. If you have any questions or need more information, we are always ready to help you.
4 Winter Driving
Please remember that in winter, in cold conditions, the range of an electric car battery is significantly shorter than in warm weather. This means that during winter, the car will not travel as far on the same amount of charge as it would in the summer.
Be prepared to charge the electric car more often and for longer during winter! Plan your route carefully in advance!
